In recent months, I did a bunch of mixing, including: An album for a hypnotic electronic duo, songs for a psychedelic band from Mexico, tracks for a local queer country singer, and a full record for a catchy punk band from Toronto. I was lucky to produce/engineer/mix a song for a kick-ass group described as "hardcore-adjacent" that have been on tour all over the U.S. I spent a day producing a song with a loveable artist with Down syndrome. I had tracking/producing sessions with artists doing lush cinematic, dark country music; an Australian-born country songwriter who delivers mail and does bareback bronc rodeo riding; and a drum machine-powered group inspired by edgy "alternative" '80s music. There was even six days of fun dub mixing with a repeat client. The sheer variety of styles I get to work on, and the different people I meet, is fascinating. But, most importantly, these are the aspects of being involved in this career that I still really enjoy.
